Oracle for June

The Lord of Lore, our card this month, is drawn from the Celtic Wisdom Oracle- Oracle Cards for Ancestral Wisdom and Guidance by Caitlin Matthews. The author is one of my favorites and is one of the most knowledgeable and insightful writers on Celtic wisdom I have encountered. Note the tag under the Chalice in the illustration: " I bestow the gift of renewal." The classic belief here is that when things look dead you can bring new life out of the darkness, life can begin again.

The Lord of Lore, Oracle Cards for Ancestral Wisdom and Guidance by Caitlin Matthews

June is certainly the month of budding and blooming and seeing life come back. Summer solstice is almost upon us. The celebration of  light is coming.

The card reminds us to appreciate the new growth in ourselves as well as our crops and flowers; to review what we want to keep for the future: and let go of that which is not providing growth for us.

Like Greek mythology, Celtic lore also had an Underworld. The story on the card is of Bran the Blessed, a giant and king of Britain according to Welch lore. He is strong in battle, but he is also known for lying down to create a bridge with his body so that his men can pass over the river.

I like the idea of being a bridge and while I'm not one to identify with being in battle I often think of myself as a bridge, an aid in transitions, coach and change agent. I love the changing seasons and their message that life works in cycles.

I invite you to meditate on ways in which you bridge and help others bridge some of the changes that we face during these challenging times. Call on the Lord of Lords for support if you are so inclined. TImes are tough; we need all the help we can get!
