An Oracle Reading for 2023

Our Celtic Oracle reading for 2023 is based on three cards drawn from Portal to the Sacred Trees-A Celtic Oracle,  a deck by Jane Burns. The illustrations are by Judith Bird. 

The first question I asked was about the energies around us as we enter this new year, this portal into 2023. The card is The Spindle Tree. In Jane’s words, “The time to forge our own path is now.” The picture invites us to focus on our inner selves. This is a time to shed or minimize those roles and patterns that obscure our own path. It is a time for sovereignty. It is a time to write our own story, follow our own path, and weave the world as we wish it to be.

The unfolding of the year is represented by The Holly Tree. The Holly Tree has become a symbol of the holidays because it brought protection and strength through the dark of winter-resilient, downright tough, yet beautiful to the Celts.

At year-end, The Grove suggests we enter a new resource gathering, community, and support phase. The Druids met in the sacred grove, where they honored Nature, drawing inspiration and strength from the trees and gathering together.

May you enter this new portal with an open heart and an open mind,

May you allow the year to unfold in love and joy, and

May we find ourselves at year end with more peace and love in our hearts.
