Sound Health

Saturday was a positive angel number, 12/12/2020. It asks us to turn to the Divine energy of our soul. I recently listened to a John Goldman talk on Shift Network. A renowned pioneer sound healer, John reminded us that  sound health is achieved by using sound to heal. Listening to the Divine within ourselves is such an easy thing if we take John’s advice to simply hum to ourselves. (Think of an  “OM” meditation  or of the smile you get when you find yourself humming  Jingle Bells!)

For me, a big part of the joy of this season comes from the music. Starting with my humming “Over the River and Through the Woods” at Thanksgiving to “Light One Little Candle” at Hanukkah, and then the yuletide carols and chants of Winter Solstice and Christmas, I am humming through the month. I am listening to more music and singing more than usual. I am bringing joy and light to myself and my world.

We need that added  joy and light in the season of darkest days and longest nights, especially  this year. We need the healing of the light and the boost to our immune system that joy brings. We need to celebrate, and we need to bring healing to ourselves and our world. The music of the season is a great gift when we take time to appreciate it.

What does this have to do with Celtic spirit and Celtic wisdom you might ask. For me, visits  to ancient stone circles  offer experiential evidence that the Ancient Ones knew how to work with  frequency and vibrational energy and sound. It is no accident that the retaining walls of Newgrange are made of white quartz cobblestone. The light and sound properties of quartz must have been known then for specific rocks to be carried for miles for placement. Think how we use quartz today in almost all our technologies and how delightful it is to sunbathe  on a beautiful sandy quartz beach listening to the waves and soaking in the light of the sun (my favorite meditation  go-to place).

I often mention Newgrange. And in the coming days as winter solstice approaches, I will no doubt post pictures of this extraordinary place. But the purpose of this block is to lift up the power of sound to heal.

So my gift to you this season is the posting of some of my favorite Celtic songs of the yule season and this Celtic Blessing for the season:

May you surround yourself in the uplifting music of the season,

May you hum and sing and chant in “Joy and exultation”,

May you be of sound health.
